On A Curve

It is safe to say that berets are the chicest hats in fashion. They are synonymous with Paris, and Paris is of course synonymous with style. A little bit of Paris can exist in your wardrobe with the right beret. I’ve selected 10 super stylish black berets that are perfect for the fall and winter seasons, from studs, to embroidery and leather. I start off with the classic plain black beret, because it is simple and it is the perfect finishing touch to any look. I styled mine with these trendy plaid pants, a long sleeve turtleneck top, and a trench style dress from Melissa McCarthy (similar here). I finished my look with white sneakers from Torrid, a black cross body bag (similar here), and of course my black beret. Shop different styles below, and scroll to the end to check out some colorful options. Hope you guys are having a lovely holiday season!

Ciao beautiful people! It’s been a couple of weeks since I got back from Rome, and I’m still in awe of how gorgeous the city was. I’ll have a photo diary up on my blog soon, but in the meantime I want to share one of my favorite outfits from the trip. This fabulous red plus size blazer from eloquii is one of my wardrobe staples. I styled it in my monochrome lookbook collaboration with eloquii a few months ago, but this time I wanted to do something a little different. I paired it with these stunning floral wide leg pants from the Victoria Beckham X Target collection. I completed the look with a soft knit turtleneck and the cutest embroidered shoes in the whole wide world. I found the perfect little Italian restaurant to take pictures in front of, and my blog shoot turned into a show for a little Italian family. I was so embarrassed, but oh well at least I got the shots. I'm writing this from my couch, and I'd give anything to be back posing in front of Ristorante Arturo.

I’m also in love my makeup for this look. I filmed a mini makeup tutorial on the look - watch it here and subscribe to my youtube channel.

I also styled the white version of this blazer, check it out here.

Hey there! Today I have another plus size guide, and this time I’m featuring overalls! This is the second installment of the plus size guide, where I find and share the hard-to-find items in plus sizes. You might not think of overalls as a staple in your fall/winter wardrobe, but they can be a great piece to wear all year round. Overalls are versatile and can be styled in a million different ways.
I love this weekend look I wore a few weeks ago. To make it more appropriate for the fall season, I paired my overalls with a long sleeve turtleneck top (similar here), super edgy combat boots from Torrid, and this really cute embroidered bag from Simply Be. For the fall/winter season, you can also style your overalls with outerwear like blazers or leather jackets, you can layer them over a baggy knit sweater, or you can wear wool tights under overall dresses with thigh-high boots, the styling possibilities are endless!  Below, I share 10 stylish overall to shop for this season.
I would also love to hear from you, what items are you trying to find in plus size? Email me here

The holidays are a time for reflection, gratitude, and celebration. Every year, I look forward to seeing family and old friends. It’s definitely party season, and it’s always fun to get dressed up for the many occasions. I’ve partnered with Ellos, an amazing plus size clothing brand, to share three plus size outfits that would be perfect for three fabulous holiday parties. I also collaborated with my friend, Victoria Walton, a North Carolina based makeup artist and the designer of Badbadbeauty Jewels. Check out how I style my looks and shop the pieces below.

No dinner party is successful without good food, fun guests, and a fabulous outfit. From one holiday celebration to the other, I’m sure you’ll have a few to go to before the year is over. This Long Lace Bodice Dress is the perfect choice for a dinner party. It is simple and classic. I paired it with some suede thigh-high boots, but you can opt for a soft leather or patent leather pair for an edgier look. This fabulous blush pink coat, also from Ellos, completes the look perfectly. I’m wearing the Mira Earring set from Badbadbeauty.

It’s time to switch up your 9-5 attire and have a little fun at the office. You can keep your look professional but also add some much needed holiday sparkle in this Gold Sequin Bolero Jacket. I layered it over wide leg pants (similar here), and a long sleeve turtleneck sweater from Ellos. I accessorized with a statement belt, the Nasty Jane Earring set from Badbadbeauty, and faux suede ankle boots from Ellos.

Paint the town with glitter this holiday season. I’m so in love with this Glitter Knit Jumpsuit from Ellos. It is the perfect piece a new year’s look, and it is super #kirakira friendly. I accessorized with matching sparkly earrings, ankle boots, and stacked a few bracelets from the Badbadbeauty collection.  If it’s chilly, throw on a cute faux fur jacket to complete the look (similar here).

I love wearing prints and I love mixing them even more. You can create so many unique looks with the endless combinations of stripes, florals, polka dots, you name it! There are really no rules to wearing this trend, you just have to play around and have fun with it.  If you rarely wear prints, let alone mix them, it may seem a little daunting. A simple tip for beginners is to mix prints in the same family. It is super easy to do, and I share three plus size outfits below to get you started.

Plus Size Guide 10 Stylish Blazers For Fall Winter COVER.jpg

Blazers are one of my favorite fashion items. You can throw them over anything for an instant “outfit-lift.” I love them in bright colors, patterns, fitted, oversized, suit-style, longline, and the list goes on and on. While it may be easy to find all these different style in stores and online, finding them in plus sizes is the real battle. It got me thinking about other clothing items that are super hard to find in my size and how frustrating it can be for me, and for you I’m sure. So I decided to add a new segment to my blog - The Plus Size Guide. These posts will be dedicated to finding the hard to find items in plus sizes. So tweet me, DM me on instagram or email me your requests if you’re looking for a particular item in plus size.

Back to blazers, I absolutely love this White Tie Blazer from Eloquii. I previously featured it in my monochrome collaboration with them, and I decided to style it for the Fall again. This time I paired it with a long sleeve turtleneck top, a grey mini-skirt, and my favorite faux-leather boots. I accessorized with cute silver earrings and a stunning velvet bag from Simply Be. I’ve picked out 10 stylish plus size blazers that will be perfect for all your Fall/Winter looks. Check them out below!

Gwynnie Be asked me to style this Rachel Roy cape blazer, along with two other amazing influencers, for their 1 style 3 ways challenge. It got me thinking about my personal style and the lessons I've learned over the years in developing it. Whether you're starting afresh or looking to rejuvenate your wardrobe, here are five tips that I think are helpful in developing your personal style. Keep in mind that it is a journey not a destination. Feel free to share your thoughts on instagram or twitter with me @onacurve.

Try New Things

My style is always evolving because I'm always willing to try new things. What's the worst that could happen? If I like it I adopt it, and if I don't I let it go. After all, our faves like Rihanna and Solange shows us that developing a signature style doesn't mean wearing the same thing over and over again, it’s more about pushing the boundaries and being creative with your choices.

Clear The Closet

If you're anything like me, this tip is easier said than done. It can be hard to let go of pieces that have been hanging in your closet for years. I have things I’ve worn once or never! This month I committed to clearing out my closet, and although it’s been a process, it’s going quite well. (I’ll keep you updated). Hang on to those key pieces that you find yourself wearing all the time - restyle them in different ways to give them new life.

Get Inspired

Whenever I have a particular look or occasion in mind, I like to get inspired by other stylish people. I visit my favorite blogs, browse through good-old tumblr, and more recently I’ve started creating mood-boards on instagram through the “collections feature” Check out a few of my faves below.

hawaii (4).jpg

Shop New Stores

In order to rejuvenate your style, you've got to get out of your comfort zone. Trying new things and shopping at new stores go hand-in-hand. In this day and age, there are so many options. While the industry has a long way to go in being inclusive of all sizes, there are amazing plus size boutiques opening up, independent designers launching, and established designers expanding their range to include plus sizes.

This jacket is definitely a statement piece, so I created a statement look that is still effortless and simple to recreate. I paired the cape with a trendy velvet tee, a flowy midi skirt, suede boots, and sparkly silver accessories.Try this Rachel Roy Cape with a 30 day Gwynnie Be membership trial - CLICK HERE

Be Confident

Last but not least, confidence is key. I know you've probably heard this a thousand times, but it is true. In developing your personal style, confidence is half the battle. It is something you have to practice daily with each look, with each outfit. Whether you're in an expensive gown or jeans and a tee, the way you feel plays a huge part in how you look.

Last month, I teamed up with ASOS Curve to create a few looks for New York Fashion Week. I got to pick out a few pieces from their new arrivals in plus size, and also visit the ASOS showroom in New York City. I absolutely love the selections at ASOS Curve, and it remains one of my favorite plus size clothing brands. For fashion week, I wanted a statement look, and this Monochrome Graphic outfit was definitely it. Styling graphic tops and tees can be a challenge, but it's definitely one you can handle. You can recreate my fashion week look, or shop ASOS Curve’s super cool selection of plus size graphic tops and tees. Below I share 5 ways you can easily dress up a basic graphic top. You can also shop all the looks below!

Try Monochrome

For my fashion week look, I attempted the monochrome trend. It’s one of my favorite trends this fall season. I absolutely loved the baggy fit of this ASOS Curve top, and the matching color of the mini ruffle skirt tied the look together effortlessly. I completed the look with chic combat boots and simple accessories.

Fall is finally here, so it’s time to break out those sexy boots. Thigh-High boots are perfect for the season. I would pair this really cool one shoulder graphic tee with a midi skirt or high-waist jeans, and some sexy thigh-high boots.

Be Sporty & Chic

Sneakers automatically add a “cool factor” to any look. I would pair this jersey style plus size tee with these super cool striped jeggings. Finish the look with funky earrings and a statement bag.

Statement Pieces

Statement jewelry is the perfect addition to a simple look. Pair your graphic tee with trendy ball drop earrings, or a cute pair like these 3D floral statement earrings. Complete the look with heels and cute accessories.

Color Block

If you opt for a bright colored tee, try mixing up your look with other fun colorful pieces. I love the stylish ruffle detail on this blue plus size tee. Pair it with bright colored pants in orange, yellow or red. Add another bright hue with your accessories, like this yellow suede bag.

This pieces worn in this blog post were gifted by ASOS US, all opinions are my own.

Everyone Is Going Crazy For The Color PINK.

I just got back from New York Fashion Week, and all I can say is that everyone is going crazy for the color pink! From the runways to the front rows, it was clear that pink was in. Most fashion magazines predicted Red as the trending color for fall 2017 and pink for spring 2018, but the fashionistas can't seem to wait. The blogs and street style pages showcased stylish pink looks throughout the week. It looks like we'll be seeing the hue well into next year, designers like Tom Ford, Prabal Gurung, and Tracy Reese featured different shades of pink in their Spring/Summer 2018 collections (pictures below).  I'm glad I packed this Fashion To Figure dress for a night out during fashion week. The Westwood dress features a gorgeous ruched mesh with lining. I felt like a barbie doll in it. I layered over a satin pink bomber jacket (similar here), and completed the look with simple accessories.

If you know me, you know I love the fall season. In my opinion, it's the most fashionable time of year. I love everything about it, the falling leaves, warm apple cider, and boots - ankle boots, lace-up boots, thigh-high boots, you name it! However, I do tend to miss bright colors during the fall. I know we all get drawn to the cozy browns and greys as the weather gets a bit chillier, but I absolutely love incorporating bright colors into my fall wardrobe. I recently collaborated with a leading plus size clothing brand, Eloquii, to share a few tips on "how to wear color from head to toe." Today, I'll be sharing my top three reasons you should be wearing color this fall, and if you dare to rock a monochrome look this season, then check out my guest post on the Eloquii blog to see how I styled the three looks below.

Be that pop of color in a sea of grey and black this fall. Break your routine by wearing a bright color, like this Emerald green ensemble from Eloquii. If green is not your color, stand out from the crowd with other striking hues like yellow, red, or even a hot pink shade. Try it at least once, and if you like it...try it again!

Can wearing bright colors really improve your mood? Well the experts say yes! A Vogue editor did some research, and according to Color Therapy Experts, Constance Hart, “Color has an effect on our psyche, it’s always affecting us whether we are aware of it or not.” When picking out your fall looks, don't forget about your favorite hues. Reach for those bright colors you love but only tend to wear in the spring/summer. My go-to feel-good color is red. Whats's your go-to color? Tweet me @fashiononacurve.

By wearing bright colors this season, you get to expand your fall wardrobe. Mix in colorful pieces that you would traditionally store away until springtime, so there are no limits to your wardrobe. For me, the time-honored tradition of retiring white clothes after labor day does not apply to this modern age. The fall season is the perfect time to try out an all white look. You get to play with textures and layers, which makes styling a look like this even more fun.

It can be a challenge to find the perfect dress to wear to a special occasion. I’ve collaborated with one of my favorite plus size clothing brands, Simply Be, to share gorgeous styles you can wear to the next dressy occasion, day or night. (For 40% off all Simply Be clothing, use code - VALERIE40).

Daytime Special Occasion

I prefer to wear lighter colors during daytime occasions. You can rock a bold and highly pigmented color, or opt for a softer shade like this mink pink mesh maxi dress. I instantly fell in love with the floral sequin and silver embroidered details on the bodice.

It also features a fully lined mesh skirt with a thigh-high slit, double-layer flutter sleeves, and elastic gathers at the back that adjusted perfectly to my bust size. It is a statement dress, so I kept the styling simple with nude heels, pink drop earrings, and this gorgeous champagne sequin clutch bag from Simply Be.

This plus size maxi dress is versatile and can easily be styled for an evening look.

Style note: For bustier women like myself, note that the mesh on the bodice is sheer. A strapless bra is required if you're not comfortable with your bra strap showing. I also had to reinforce the stud button closure with a few stitches because I felt the pressure from the strapless bra pulling on the button. I wear a 44DD.

Shop Daytime Occasion Dresses

Evening Special Occasion

Evening wear doesn’t always mean floor length gowns. You can style a mid-length dress like this plus size lace bardot number for your next special occasion. The gorgeous lace trimmed neckline stands out, and the sweetheart bust lining adds a feminine touch to the look.

The pleated skirt has a satin-like finish and it’s cinched at the waist to create a gorgeous princess silhouette. I styled this plus size dress with a beaded clutch, also from SImply Be, and a pair of sparkly ankle strap sandals. I opted for an edgier piece of jewelry with these silver-tone cross statement earrings.

Stye notes: This dress fits like a glove, so order your true size. Again, if you’re not comfortable with your bra strap showing, or going braless, then you’ll need a good strapless bra.

There is still time to slay the maxi dress. Rock this effortless summer style as the season comes to an end. This post features a cold-shoulder plus size maxi dress from ASOS Curve. If you’re looking for the perfect plus size maxi dress, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve picked out different colors, styles, print and patterns from a few of my favorite plus size brands. Happy shopping!

I attended a friend's wedding a few weeks ago, and in true fashion I started searching for a dress at the last minute. I’ve always trusted the fit of ASOS Curve dresses, so I decided to purchase this cold-shoulder plus size dress with only a few days left to the wedding.  It was the best decision ever! I took advantage of the $19/yr 2-day shipping option and my dress arrived just in time! The fit was perfect, and I loved that it was still floor length with heels on. I got so many compliments on the color and style, so I can safely say this dress was a winner. I styled it with one of my favorite trending statement earrings, a printed clutch, and block heel sandals. Shop this style and other plus maxi dresses below.

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite trends - Color Blocking! I share my top 5 tips to pulling off this style with ease. I'm featuring some of my favorite summer pieces from ELOQUII, a top plus size fashion retailer.

Don't be afraid to rock bright colors. The brighter the better. When matching colors, pick from the opposite sides of the spectrum. The Color-Block trend works even better when each color is a distinct shade. I recommend 2 - 5 colors max. I paired this stunning ELOQUII plus-size RED blouse with HOT PINK pants, and YELLOW accessories.

Invite your accessories to the color-blocking party. The ball drop earrings have been trending all season, and a statement piece like this one is the perfect way to add color beyond your clothes. Check out other styles from ELOQUII here

Throw in one or two neutral pieces to balance out your look. I wanted to keep my look simple with three colors, so I chose these simple bock heel sandals. It blends right in with the other pieces! A pair of nude, black, or white heels should do the trick.

Play with different shapes and silhouettes. The styling is just as important as the colors you pick. This ELOQUII plus size blouse features an off shoulder neckline with a classic wrap front, tie belt, and short puff sleeves. I paired it with simple straight leg pants, and the ball drop earrings add movement and dimension to my look.

vacation style

I'm always ready for a vacation. I'm fortunate to have seen a good bit of the world, but I want to see more! I love going to new cities, meeting new people, eating new foods (minus the alligator I had in New Orleans last week). As a creative person, one of my favorite things about traveling is the new visual setting my locations provide. New backgrounds, colors and sights, perfect for telling my stories. Believe it or not, I also love packing for vacation. It gives me a chance to wear pieces I may not wear while I'm home, or shop for new items. I have selected four styles that work perfectly for your next vacation (Note: These selections are partial to warmer climates.) Don't have time to think about what you're gonna wear on your next trip? Then pack one of each of the styles below, a few shorts, tees, swimsuits, your other essentials, and you're vacation ready. Hope this helps! Also check out my full summer look-book below.

Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are a vacation essential. Dress it up or down with the right accessories. This piece is from Boohoo plus size. Go for something bright and colorful. If you're feeling daring, pick something with a sexy detail like these double slits. Shop similar plus size options below.

Bright Colored Prints

Never be afraid to rock bold prints. If you are, what better time to try it out than on a vacay? Pair your print with a solid color piece, a matching print, or if you're feeling adventurous, mix and match your prints. This gorgeous top is from Grass Fields

I can always rely on a romper, that's why it's the perfect choice for a vacation. It's a worry-free one piece. There are so many styles to choose from (off shoulder, strapless, halter etc.) This stylish plus size bell sleeve piece is from Eloquii.

Off Shoulder Dresses

Slip one of these on, and you're ready to hit the beach, pool, bar, market, club etc. Pair it with cute sandals and cute accessories like this Rosette Bag from Torrid. This plus size off shoulder floral dress is also from Torrid.

This early 2000's trend is back and we're here for it.

Mini skirts are as synonymous with the early 2000's as denim itself. I swear I owned a skirt just like this in high-school; wishing I kept it! Below are a few option and styles of the denim skirt. You can recreate this look, or style it differently. Browse options from plus size clothing retailers like Forever 21 Plus, ASOS Curve, Simply Be, etc.

"The Summer is all about the coolest graphic tees."

I'm a 90's baby, born in Southern California, raised in Lagos, so yes I had to buy this tee (Shop HERE). Check out some of my favorite plus size graphic t-shirt designs below. The red bomber jacket is thrifted, but you can find a similar style on ASOS - Click HERE.

As you all know by now, I'm a proud Nigerian girl (insert Nigerian flag emoji here). I was so excited to collaborate with Grass Fields again, because they are one of the premier brands making stylish ready-to-wear African clothing. Even better, all their styles come in plus sizes up to a 4X. The Grass Field's collections are inspired by self-expression, and their clothes feature the most vibrant prints and contemporary designs. I immediately fell in love with the Stella African Print Set. The matching maxi skirt and off shoulder blouse are just stunning! As soon as I slipped it on, I felt like I could have been the leading lady in 2Face's African Queen video (If you haven't seen that video, please pause and watch - HERE). I had to pause writing to watch it again, and it took me back to my teenage years...Back to the look LOL, I kept the styling simple with drop earrings, a bold red lip and matching heels. I'm wearing a plus size 2X in the skirt and a 3X in the blouse. Make sure you check out the Grass Field's website for other amazing styles.

Sizing Tip:

If you have a larger chest area (like me), I would advise sizing up. I'm wearing a plus size 3X here.

Swim season is officially here! Unfortunately, with the warm weather comes insane pressures and unreasonable expectations to shred every piece of body fat. Society only welcomes us to the pool or beach if we are displaying steel-cut abs in a teeny weeny bikini, and of course the endless #beachbody #summerbodygoals posts are making their way onto our timelines. As a plus size woman, I count myself among the lucky generation who experienced the era of Gabi Fresh. A woman who (at least for me) was partly responsible for smacking the swimwear fashion industry with a youthful approach, stylish designs, and a body positive message. Over the years, I've watched stylish options for plus size swimsuits multiply, and discovered brands like Simply Be. I've teamed up with Simply Be for the WE ARE CURVES campaign to showcase some of my favorite swimsuits this summer. Simply Be is usually a go-to for trendy plus size clothing, but they also have a variety of stylish swimwear. Below are a few of my favorite one-piece swimsuits from their current collection.

Flirty Swim

The off shoulder swimsuit is trending this season. I've always been a fan of the bardot style on blouses and dresses, so this Simply Be swimsuit was the perfect pick for me. This plus size one-piece features a vibrant floral print, a ruffle overlay across the bodice, and a bright pink piping detail. Adjustable/removable straps and built-in bra cups provide much needed support for the girls.

Sporty Swim

I may not be a surfer, but I can dress like one. This surf/sports inspired swimsuit from Simply Be is one of my favorite pieces for the summer. The fit is absolutely perfect. It features solid blue panels with a stylish mesh overlay, and a simple zip up detail in the front. It also features built-in bra cups and a mesh lining for added support.

"Every Body is a Beach Body"

Sexy Swim

Nothing is sexier than a red lip, unless of course you're wearing a red lip and a sexy swimsuit at the same time. There are six different ways to wear this Magisculpt swimsuit from Simply Be. I chose to wear in a halter style. It features a single removable/adjustable strap, and built-in foam cups.

Simply Be style tip: "Wrap the long centre-front pieces across the body in a variety of ways to recreate the looks, from Grecian inspired to a simple swimsuit silhouette, this swimsuit guarantees you versatility."

If I could be in linen all year round, I would. This gorgeous plus size tunic is one of my favorite summer pieces. It's stylish and probably one of the most comfortable pieces of clothign I own. Unfortunately, this Melissa McCarthy Seven7 tunic is currently sold out, but I've selected a few other styles below if you would like to recreate this look.

Plus Size Striped Dress/Tunic

I wanted to style this tunic differently than I had before (which was probably just throwing sandals on lol). I layered it on a plus size body-con pencil skirt and added a classic wide belt. Below are a few stylish white pencil skirts from some of my favorite plus size brands.

Plus Size White Pencil Skirt

ASOS Curve has an amazing range of wide belts in plus sizes, check out a few below.

Plus Size Wide Belts

I completed the look with a pair of simple ankle strap sandals.

It's getting hotter everyday, and that means I'm wearing less and less makeup. If you sweat on your face like me, then you feel my pain lol. For those days where I'm feeling bold and risking melted makeup, here are a few of my favorite beauty products used to perfect this "No Makeup Makeup Look." I will be filming a youtube tutorial on this look soon, so stay tuned! Don't forget to subscribe to my blog below for updates, and check out my social media platforms!

As a plus size woman, it took me a very long time to embrace bright colors. What now seems like a staple in my wardrobe, was once a very big struggle as I developed my personal style, and battled body-image issues from a very young age. The two challenges I always had were - 1) fighting against societal norms that required muted and dark colors on plus size bodies and 2) the lack of actually cute bright-colored plus size clothing. Today, I am on a much better journey with my body and the plus-size fashion industry is growing at a ridiculous pace. Although there are still days I struggle, and there remain molds to break in the fashion industry, I am happy I let color into my life and my wardrobe

This is one of my favorite thrift purchases. I got this top for about $3 a few years ago and I still love it. There are great plus size finds at your local thrift store!

Eloquii gifted me these yellow plus size wide-leg cropped pants, and I think they are the cutest thing ever!

Below are a few of my beauty favs! These are products I use almost daily. If you would like to see a makeup tutorial on this look, leave a message on my instagram @fashiononacurve

I am plus size and I'm wearing a halter top! Did hell freeze over?! Do pigs fly? No, I'm just enjoying this beautiful weather and not caring "what I think others think" about my big arms. This super stylish halter top is from Eloquii. They make such gorgeous quality plus size clothing, and I fell in love with this top while at their pop-up store in DC. I had originally planned to style it with another top underneath it, but nothing worked quite the way I wanted it to. I finally said, If I'm gonna wear a halter top, I might as well do the damn thing. LOL. I paired it with this printed skirt also from Eloquii, and the rest is history. I completed the look with some fun gold accessories and stylish fringe sandals. I've picked out a few plus size halter tops and printed skirts below, so you can shop a similar look.  Find me on Instagram, and let me know if you'll be rocking a halter top this summer @fashiononacurve.

Torrid has been one of my favorite plus size clothing stores since I was a teenager. I remember buying my first pair of hot pink skinny jeans from one of the stores when I was 14 years old (to be specific: West Covina Mall). As much as I love their clothing options, when it comes shoes, Torrid makes the trendiest plus size and wide-width shoes. I am 5'11, so growing up with larger/wider feet had always been a struggle.  I am so grateful that Torrid saw the need for girls like me, and has continued to make fashionable shoes for my size 12.5 - sometimes 13 feet. I got to try out a few of their new releases for the spring/summer season, and I am in love with every single one. Head over to my youtube channel to see how they fit, and to let me know your favs. These are only a few options, the Torrid website has more drool-worthy summer shoes- CLICK HERE. Thanks for visiting my blog today, in the meantime, find me on instagram @fashiononacurve

OK ladies now let's get in formation! LOL Beyonce's iconic line keeps playing in my head every time I look at these photos. I'm serving you blush pink, crushed velvet, slick hair, thigh highs, I mean c'mon! I got this skirt three years ago from River Island, and a few weeks ago SImply Be sent me this gorgeous bomber jacket from their new Spring collection. I immediately went digging in my closet for this skirt and finally found it! I just knew that they would be magic together. The jacket is currently available on the Simply Be website, and you can shop a similar look below.

My gorgeous friend Aisha Browne has started a clothing line, Ode to BCSY. I was so excited when I saw this satin blouse pop up on her instagram, I ordered it immediately! I'm so happy that she is pursuing her passion, and it inspires me to continue pursuing mine. I can't wait to see what else she creates as she develops her collection. I paired my satin top (which is smooth/soft AF by the way) with a pair of satin pants I thrifted. Cute accessories complete the look, and of course a fiery red lip. Head over to Aisha's website to get this top and other items, and shop a similar look below. See you soon!

As you can see, I'm oh so ready for spring! My favorite trend this season is embroidery. It is everywhere and fortunately, on everything - jeans, jackets, purses, shoes - you name it! The lovely Simply Be team allowed me to preview their newly released spring collection, and I fell in love with this embroidered jacket. The jacket, and these fun pair of embroidered jeans from Melissa McCarthy Seven7 were a match made in springtime heaven. For this weekend shop, I've picked out some of my favorite embroidered jackets and jeans so you can recreate this look. I've also picked out some of my everyday makeup staples that keep my skin glowing and spring ready. I have more exciting posts coming next week, but in the meantime find me on instagram and twitter @fashiononacurve Talk soon!

Well I guess it's time to pack up my thigh high boots and press X on that winter shopping cart - saying goodbye to the faux fur coat that I never fully committed to. It was 74° this past weekend! It was also still February this past weekend, so the reality of climate change is feeling very....real. As I ponder all the impending social and political issues we face as a country, I must say that it is still a blessing to be able to bask in the sun.

I have some super exciting news! Eloquii - an amazing online plus-size fashion retailer - will be launching its first-ever concept store on March 9th at Fashion Centre Pentagon City (more HERE). I've been invited to the event along with some other fabulous plus size bloggers and guess what? So are you! I was so excited that I got to try out a few items from Eloquii's new releases. I instantly fell in love with this beautiful printed off-shoulder top. I paired it with these cute and sexy high waisted jeans, and it made the perfect outfit for laying out over the warm weekend. Eloquii has just released another collection - The Dream Weaver collection - so go check it out! I hope to see some of your gorgeous faces at the event next week. In the mean time, find me on Instagram @fashiononacurve.

Happy Monday folks! Just like that, another week is upon us. Another week of work assignments, coffee runs, traffic jams, and worst of all "wardrobe block." What is wardrobe block? Well, it's kinda sorta like writer's block. You're standing in front of your closet, racks overflowing with clothes and if you're like me, another pile of clothes hopelessly perched on a chair beside your closet. You're trying to figure out what to wear, and frankly, what to re-wear. This week, I share three tricks to styling a basic dress. That's three of your work days covered - you're welcome lol. These are super easy tips that you can easily recreate. I started with this simple blue dress from my Gwynnie Bee (GB) closet.

I chose a thrifted blue floral blazer, but you can really go with any pattern or color. Options are endless – solid color, stripes, checks, floral, paisley, mixed prints, you name it! Throw it over your basic dress and you're done. A pair of killer heels "don't hurt" either.

Seriously, what's classier than a white shirt. FACT: Throw a white shirt under anything and you instantly look 10 times more put-together. I think I'll call this look Wednesday :) #humpday.

Denim makes everything look cool right? So why not double up. My denim jacket is also thrifted, but I've selected a few below for you to choose from. These gorgeous embroidered jeans are from the awesome Melissa McCarthy Seven team. Check out how I styled these same jeans in another post

Thanks so much visiting my page. If you like these styling tips, please be sure to let me know on Instagram- @fashiononacurve. As a Gwynnie Bee affiliate, I get to try all the gorgeous pieces in their closet and review it for you (my readers). So if you want to try out this dress or other items free for 30 days - click HERE. See you later alligators!

Its an online women’s clothing subscription service for sizes 10-32. You get to try out different outfits, then choose to keep them or exchange them for something else! Welcome to the Weekend Shop Edit. I've decided to start sharing my weekend outfits of the day (OTTD) with you, and curating similar items for you to shop. Let me know if you find this post useful. I'll continue to tweak it, by adding styling tips and other fashion/beauty related items. Before I sign out, I just want to give a quick shout out to this North Carolina weather for the sunshine in the middle of winter. Hope you all enjoy, also stop over at my Instagram page when you get a chance.

Staying warm and staying fashionable are not mutually exclusive. It's really simple to do! I will share four tips to staying stylish in these freezing cold temperatures.

1) Layers - This is incredibly important to staying warm and comfortable as you slay in the snow! For this look, I am wearing 9 items of clothing (From Head to Toe - a beret, a tank top, a t-shirt, a turtle neck sweater, a top, a coat, leggings and a pencil skirt). No shame in my game LOL.

2) Accessorize - There are so many fabulous Fall/Winter accessories to choose from. My favorites are a stylish winter hat and some killer boots. Here I chose a classic beret - oui oui - and a pair of super stylish over-the-knee boots (shop in accessories below).

3) The Coat - Finding the right coat definitely takes some searching. Most trendy coats are not quite built for warmth, they are more for looks, so it is really important to invest in a good quality coat. If you're like me, and you're balling on a budget, take a look around the thrift stores in your area. I found this stunning long line black wool coat at a thrift store for about $20 (+ dry cleaning).

4) Color - While everyone including the sky is looking drab and gray, a pop of color brings life to your Winter wear. I am wearing a gorgeous electric blue top from FTF (similar here), and I just love the way it pops against my all black ensemble.

I hope these tips are helpful as you prepare for more freezing temperatures. I'll be back on the blog with more looks soon. Make sure to scroll down to the end of this post to check out my Youtube video featuring this outfit and subscribe to my Youtube Channel!

blog cover 1.jpg

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and I'm finally back to blogging! I have missed this so much, but you all know how work and life remain unbalanced no matter how hard we try. Over this year, I have witnessed the growth of my brand and blog and I couldn't be happier with it. It has been a creative, exciting and life-changing year for both my personal and work life. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I now live in a new city in North Carolina. I'm slowly adjusting to an even slower pace, but I'm ready for the new and challenging opportunities ahead. Don't worry, I'm not gonna bore you with the "New year, New me" spiel LOL, but I am ready for 2017! This is not goodbye yet! I think we can squeeze a couple of more blog posts in before the new year. Till next time!  Top - Fashion to Figure Skirt - Melissa McCarthy Seven7

Oh my goodness, we are three days away from a new year! I'm super excited for this opportunity to reset and refocus on the important things in life. Some say, and I actually believe, that time is not linear. We can restart, recalibrate, refocus, do whatever we want whenever we want, but there is just something so humanly satisfying about a new year, and our belief that it is a fresh start. In that regard, I'd prefer to remain simple and continue to follow the calendric calibrations of our existence. LOL I'm definitely not one for resolutions, so here are 17 things I would LOVE to do in 2017. It is my hope that I accomplish them all, and that you accomplish all your dreams, hope, needs, wants, loves etc.

17 things I would LOVE to do in 2017

1. Speak "at least" conversational French and Spanish. Seriously though, multilingualism is a major key. "They" don't want you to know that LOL. I took Spanish classes in college and French in High School, but I haven't been practicing. Vamonos!

2. Call family and friends at least once a week (I live across the country from them). We all get so busy with our lives, and I just need to do better. Do you all remember the series finale of Fresh Prince - Unc Phil:  "Sunday." Will: "Sunday." *tear* - if you have not seen the last scene of Fresh Prince, do yourself a favor - get some tissues and WATCH IT NOW

3. Clear out my closet. This is sooooo important. I recently moved apartments and tried to get rid of a lot of clothes by donating, but there are still so many! I think my closet is alive and growing. So this means a closet sale is coming your way soon! Who's excited?

4. Go to Nigeria - It has been 10 years since I moved abroad. :((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( - Enough said, it is time.

5. Take up a singing class or theater for fun. Fact: Not only am I a generally dramatic human being, my theater professor in college said I had great potential. (or was he just being dramatic?) I really do enjoy singing and theater, so this should be fun!

6. Designate and dedicate part time hours to my blog. Up until this point, I have only been blogging when I had the time. 2017 will be different. I believe that consistency will be the key to my blog's success!

7. Wake up, and go to bed earlier. I seriously need to get it together. On the rare days that I wake up early, I just feel a whole lot more productive. I recently tried out the new iPhone bedtime function, and it told me to go to be at 10:00pm. ahhahahahahha Bye Siri.

8. Cook more. Fortunately and unfortunately, I now live approximately 5 minutes and 27 seconds from my local Whole Foods. That hot bar is about to make me start scraping pennies :(

9. Explore my surroundings. I live less than 3 hours from the most gorgeous beaches and mountains, and I wanna see them all up close. Don't let this bodycon fool you, I can be outdoorsy when I wanna be ;)

10. Restart my youtube channel. Many of you probably don't know I have one. I don't know what happened LOL, I just stopped a couple of years ago. I've recently been feeling inspired, so stay tuned for new content and subscribe -  https://www.youtube.com/user/FashionOnACurve

11. Finish decorating my apartment. Seriously, it's been two months.

12. Get my butt back in the gym. I had such an active lifestyle in 2015, what happened???

13. Eat Organic as much a possible, and buy fresh produce from my local farmers market (because Whole Foods everyday is not economically feasible for most of us) - Another major key "they" don't want you to know about. smh - Fast food is slowly killing us.

14. Continue to practice self love.

15. Go to church more often. I'm not a super religious person, but I do love hymns, and worship songs at church. It is my favorite part of church, and I miss it.

16. Collaborate with global artists, bloggers, musicians, photographer, videographers, makeup artists, hairstylists etc. to create ridiculously beautiful content. In essence, people who specialize in their craft.

17. Slay, and slay again. By the grace of God!

A little lace never hurt nobody. However for this outfit, I can't promise that. LOL. I'm especially loving this top from Simply Be! The fabric is soft and gorgeous, but the detail and structure give it an edge. I paired it with a skirt I got from Lane Bryant a few years ago, which I DIY'd by cutting out the skirt lining. I added this chunky statement belt from ASOS Curve, and to stay warm threw on this trendy bomber from Forever 21. This is definitely one of my favorite looks this Fall. I recently teamed up with Simply Be for their "Step Out" fall campaign. I was very excited to work with such a stylish and body positive brand. They asked me to Step Out in Washington D.C., and here's what I had to say. "Fall is officially here. It is time to Step Out in the District and flaunt those curves. Forget the chill and dress to thrill in this simply sexy cold-shoulder sweater. What better time to explore the city?! Take a trip to the National Portrait Gallery, step out and see the endless Smithsonian Museums, and let the Washington architecture inspire your Fall fashion. In the nation’s capital it’s only right that you step out in style, self-confidence and Simply Be." I hope you love this look, and don't forget to check out more styles and the campaign HERE. For those of us who are lucky enough to experience the season change (no shade to my birth place *Cali), it’s that time of year where we pack away the open-toe sandals and crop-tops, and roll out the leather jackets and thigh-high boots. The one thing I am not giving up though, are my Florals in the Fall. The bright colors and playful patterns standout in the cold and grey weather. I layered this look with a stylish jacket by City Chic from Gwynnie Bee. If you love this look and want it in your closet, sign up for a free Gwynnie Bee trial! You can have both the dress and the jacket free for 30 days! I can’t wait to see your looks, what other summer trends are you borrowing of the Fall?

Cool weather I can count on, picture-perfect golden leaves, and a few months from Christmas time??? These are a few of the reasons why Fall is my favorite season. It may seem like Fall is suddenly here, but trust me, I have patiently waited through a scorching summer and I am ready to enjoy these next few months. The lovely team at Melissa McCarthy Seven7 sent me this gorgeous jumpsuit. I paired it with some stylish block heels and since it was finally cool enough to dust off my wool hat, I finished the look with it. I'm looking forward to sharing more Fall outfits with you all. Thanks for stopping by!

Be Wise. That's some great advice from a T-Shirt. As I grow older, I've noticed that the process of decision making is becoming more and more complicated. Complicated in a good way! Meaning I think things through, analyze the facts, check my sources, double-check everything LOL. To be honest I don't really know, nor do I think anyone knows what it means to "be wise." I think most of us are out there doing the best we can. We know when we are not acting in our best interest, and what the wiser decision is. That's life. You live, you learn, and then you learn again. How about this, "I'll try to Be Wise." About the look!!! LOL, I paired my Dad's old tee with my fav FTF jeans and this cool Forever21 Bomber Jacket. Below are a few of my fav bomber jackets, perfect for the coming fall weather. Look out for more fall looks this week!

What could be better than a bomber jacket in the Fall? A pink satin bomber jacket!!! Forever21 Plus asked me to create a few looks, and I fell in love with this jacket the moment I laid eyes on it. I went for a more sleek/sportswear vibe. I paired the jacket with a trendy pink choker top, velvet midi skirt, and some killer black heels. This dress is just magical! The cut, the fit, the fact that there are sleeves, the neckline, the print! Where do I even start? I opted to keep the styling simple and go for gold accessories to complement the dress. I paired the dress with a gold vintage belt, gold necklace from J. Crew, and gold drop earrings. Red lips and red sandals complete this look. Pop Up Plus is an online and pop up shop for curvy trendsetters sizes 14 +. The curated line is a mixture of unique pieces from sexy to comfy. I picked out this simple white maxi dress because of the fit. It hugs your curves in all the right places, and the ruching on the side gives it a dressy look. I paired the dress with these lace-up block heels from Torrid, and a vintage over-size denim jacket. Overall, this look is as comfy-dressy as it gets. For as long as I can remember, I've always had a desire to design clothes. I picked up a few skills from watching my Grandmother as a child, and I even took some fashion classes in college. However, it wasn't until I started developing my own personal style and blogging, that I got creative with designing. I wanted a sewing machine for the longest time, and last christmas I finally got one! (thanks babe). I must admit, the first few items were not a success, but my sewing skills are improving if I do say so my self (check out my CurvyCon dress). The most fun part of creating my own clothes is the new collection of fabrics I am accumulating. I was actually at the fabric store picking up some lining for one of my many "uncompleted projects" when I spotted this super fun print! The store only had 3 yards left, so I had to get it all. I opted to make a simple dress so I could maximize the use of the fabric, and I just love it! Let me know what you all think by clicking the contact tab above, I really can't wait for this dream to become a reality!. Soon and very soon...

My 3rd pick for the Plus Size Wedding Guest is here! It is this sexy Kiyonna Foxfire dress from Gwynnie Bee. Based on my blog, I've had a lot of people tell me that I give off a sexy/sultry vibe. In all honesty, I take it as a compliment, but I laugh on the inside because they have no idea that it's my alter ego. You know how Queen Beyonce created Sasha Fierce on stage? Well, when I'm shooting for my blog, I take on this alter ego that's sexy or sultry or whatever you call it. The truth is, I'm actually a proud super-nerd. I love harry potter, staying home, and rice cakes. Yup people, I said rice cakes LOL. The moral of the story is, don't be afraid to turn the sexy on whenever you want to. This dress will definitely have you feeling like Sasha Fierce.  If you want to try this dress free for 30 days, sign up for a Gwynnie Bee free trial. Until next time!
